In one of the bloodiest events for Israeli ground forces in recent months, seven Israeli combat engineers, ages 19 to 21, were murdered in a catastrophic IED strike in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, on Tuesday when an explosive was rigged to their armored vehicle.
Following notification of their families of their fatalities, the Israeli military cleared the names of six for publishing Wednesday morning.
They were all members of the Barak Division’s 605th Combat Engineering Battalion (188). An officer was one of them.
During combat operations in Khan Younis, the soldiers were moving when a terrorist rigged an explosive device to their armored personnel vehicle, killing them.
The car had to be dragged into Israel after being totally destroyed by fire.
