When the 28-year-old singer informed her followers on her Instagram Story that she intended to film the music video for her song “What Was That?” at New York’s Washington Square Park, “such a mob showed up that the cops shut it down.”
When the Ribs singer appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she disclosed, “We had the anti-terrorism unit being very intense, telling me if I stepped on the premises I would be arrested for riot incitement.”
Given that she was only permitted to appear for a certain period of time, Lorde “couldn’t show up for many hours” but ultimately went back to the park to record the video.
