During his visit to the devastated Hill Country region on Friday, where at least 120 people, including dozens of children, died a week ago, President Donald Trump defended the state and federal response to devastating flash flooding in Texas.
In a roundtable discussion following his tour of Kerr County, the disaster’s epicenter, Trump commended Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Texas Governor Greg Abbott for their response, calling them both do a “incredible job.”
Concerns over whether more might have been done to safeguard and alert residents before the floods, which occurred with startling rapidity in the pre-dawn hours of July 4, the U.S. Independence Day holiday, have grown among local and state officials as well as the Trump administration.
