ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was given another reserved seat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which denied similar requests from two other parties.
A five-member court headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja rendered the verdict, which was detailed in a 15-page ruling, in response to orders from the Peshawar High Court to reexamine the distribution of reserved seats.
The decision gives the PML-N the right to one additional reserved seat in KP, bringing its total number of seats in the general assembly up to level with that of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
