KALAT: Unidentified attackers opened fire on a passenger coach traveling from Karachi to Quetta near a checkpost in Kalat, Balochistan, on Wednesday, killing at least three persons and injuring seven more, according to police.
The restive province, which has seen a devastating year with numerous casualties from terrorist assaults, has seen two such strikes in less than a week.
The bus was attacked as it got close to Nemargh Cross, which is close to Kalat district. The attackers, who were perched on neighboring slopes, fired first before throwing hand grenades at the car.
About 40 to 50 people can fit in the cars that travel this route. The precise number of people on board the targeted bus is yet unknown, though.
