After being bitten by a poisonous cobra he had previously rescued in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh, India, a professional snake rescuer passed away.
The deceased, 42-year-old Deepak Mahawar, had responded to a Barbatpura village cobra sighting report. Local sources claim that he was able to catch the snake. Soon after, he got a call from his son’s school asking him to come pick up the child.
After putting the saved snake around his neck, Mahawar went to the school. He was spotted on the way, according to witnesses, many of whom recorded the event on their cell phones.
When Mahawar returned home with his son, the cobra bit his hand, knocking him out. Following his initial medical care, he was brought to the hospital.
