According to the court, Iran has detained a foreign tanker in the Sea of Oman on suspicion of smuggling gasoline.
According to the court’s Mizan Online source, Mojtaba Ghahremani, chief of the judiciary in southern Hormozgan province, stated that the ship was intercepted “after legal documents related to its cargo were found to be incomplete.”
According to reports, the ship was transporting “two million litres of smuggled fuel,” he continued.
Without providing further details regarding the name and nationality of those detained, Ghahremani stated, “Seventeen suspects, including the captain and crew of the foreign tanker, have been taken into custody.”
According to the article, authorities are examining documentation and performing laboratory testing to confirm the cargo’s legitimacy and contents.
