ISLAMABAD: In a case involving the recovery of illegal weapons and alcohol, a district and sessions court in Islamabad issued arrest warrants for Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday.
The KP chief executive’s appeal for an exemption from personal attendance was denied by the federal capital’s court, which directed the relevant authorities to arrest and present Gandapur.
The judge gave the fiery politician his last chance to record his statement under Section 342 at the beginning of the hearing.
It also cautioned that he might lose his right to have the statement recorded if the court rendered a decision without him present.
The court emphasized that authorities should not be held accountable for failing to carry out the arrest order and ordered that Gandapur be produced by July 21.
