According to officials and observers, India’s private diplomatic complaint in response to US President Donald Trump’s lunch meeting with Pakistan’s military head warned Washington about the dangers to their bilateral ties while New Delhi is adjusting relations with China as a precaution.
They claimed that while Trump’s administration considers imposing tariffs on one of its main Indo-Pacific allies, the meeting and other issues in the US-India relationship have clouded trade talks following decades of thriving ties.
Three senior Indian government officials with direct knowledge of the situation told Reuters that India accuses Pakistan of aiding what it describes as cross-border terrorism and has informed the US that courting Field Marshal Asim Munir is sending the wrong signals.
