ISLAMABAD: A day after a flood caused by heavy rains devastated the picturesque Babusar road, leaving at least five people dead and numerous others injured, and more than a dozen still unaccounted for, rescue efforts are in progress in Gilgit Baltistan.
Diamer Deputy Commissioner Atta-ur-Rehman gave an update on the situation, stating that four tourists and a local resident were killed in Babusar due to flooding brought on by a cloudburst.
According to the DC, just 40% of the losses have been estimated to date, with two of the deceased having been identified and a three-year-old child still unaccounted for.
Officials have reported that Monday’s flash floods destroyed infrastructure and washed away tourist cars in the area.
