On Tuesday, President Donald Trump reaffirmed his decision from his first term to remove the United States from the UN culture and education agency Unesco, which Joe Biden had overturned.
On December 31, 2026, the withdrawal will take effect from the Paris-based organization, which was established following World War II to advance peace through global collaboration in science, culture, and education.
“President Trump has decided to withdraw the United States from Unesco – which supports woke, divisive cultural and social causes that are totally out-of-step with the commonsense policies that Americans voted for in November,” Anna Kelly, a spokeswoman for the White House, said.
