Despite the death of the hooker’s mother, Jane, last week, George has chosen to play because he believes she “would have wanted me to”.
He told Rugby Union Daily, “I am so lucky that we have a great group of people here.”
“Having the rest of my family present in the stands will make it extra special. Never once did my parents miss a game.”
After Owen Farrell decided to step away from the game, the 33-year-old hooker for the Saracens was named captain of England prior to the Six Nations.
“Sadly she never saw me captain England because she was too ill to be there but every other game she was there,” he stated.
“Watching me play rugby for England was one of the pleasures of her life, and it will be incredible to do it again on Saturday.
“I take tremendous pride in the fact that Mum enjoyed a great deal of satisfaction while following me across the world—she was arguably the biggest England rugby fan there could possibly be.
“She loved the boys, she loved watching me play and I want to continue making her proud.”
