Swift is halfway through six sold-out performances at the 55,000-seat National Stadium, and because of an exclusive agreement with Singapore, she won’t be returning to the area.
The Singaporean government has not made the specifics of the agreement public, but last month the prime minister of Thailand asserted that Swift received offers of exclusivity worth up to £2.4 million per event.
On Tuesday, Singapore’s prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, announced that a “arrangement” had been reached for Swift to do her lone concert in the area in the state.
He said at a press conference in Melbourne, where he is attending a regional summit, “I don’t see that as being unfriendly; it has turned out to be a very successful arrangement.”
The government of Singapore previously declared that Swift had received a grant to perform, but it did not specify the details.
