Both bill opponents and supporters crowded the Joint Committee on Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services hearing room on Tuesday afternoon to voice their opinions in public. After more than six hours of hearings, it is anticipated that the bill will face more obstacles before perhaps coming up for a floor vote in the upcoming weeks.
The LD 227 measure would forbid “interference” with sex change or abortion procedures, shield medical professionals from lawsuits, and possibly allow medical information to be withheld from plaintiffs pursuing legal action against a provider.
