On Friday night, the woman and her 29-year-old companion came upon the cat while out for a walk.
The woman was being pursued by the bear as the two went in different directions, and the man lost sight of her, according to Slovak Mountain Rescue Service.
Alerted mountain rescue workers quickly began searching the area with a dog and thermal imaging drones.
A search dog found the woman’s body at the bottom of a steep gully.
It’s unknown how the woman passed away and whether a fall or the bear claimed her life.
