The Knives Out actor was a well-known Hollywood veteran, having appeared in films such as Blade Runner (1982) and the Coen Brothers’ Blood Simple.
On Wednesday, Emmet’s manager, Sandy Joseph, informed his publicist, Cynthia Snyder, of his death.
According to him, Emmet died on Tuesday as a result of a heart arrest in St. Albans, Vermont. “Walsh’s tremendous body of work includes 119 feature films and more than 250 television productions,” she said.
Michael Emmet Walsh was born March 22, 1935, in Ogdensburg, New York. He was raised in Swanton, Vermont, and lived in a property on Lake Champlain while working as an actor.
He began adopting the moniker M. Emmet Walsh “due to a union stipulation that prohibited him from using his first name,” according to his boss.
Back in 2015, he told USA Today about his early acting struggles.
