After a bridge in Baltimore suddenly collapsed into the water, at least seven individuals fell into the Patapsco River, sparking a rescue effort and plans for a mass casualty incident.
The US media said that footage of the terrible occurrence showed the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsing after a cargo ship flying the flag of Singapore struck it on its way to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Following the collision, smoke and flames shot from the ship.
A tractor-trailer is one of the vehicles thought to have been on the bridge when it collapsed, however the exact number of cars in the river is yet unknown, according to CBS News.
Transport chiefs have announced that driving is no longer allowed on the bridge following its collapse.
