A man was taken into custody after the bike crashed in a County Durham town center, striking the young victim with flying debris, according to the police.
In the collision that occurred in Chester-le-Street just after 10.30am on Tuesday, the rider sustained severe damage to his legs.
The motorbike, which Durham Police say was stolen, was “briefly pursued” by an officer on news.
The rider was detained and sent to the hospital for treatment following the collision.
Following his impact by some debris, the 12-year-old child needed medical attention, the force stated.
The road and walkways are now open again after being closed for a few hours to allow emergency services to respond.
