KARACHI: On Tuesday, December 19, there was a slight depreciation of the US dollar in Pakistan relative to the Pakistani rupee on the open market.
Currency dealers reported that during the day, customers were being quoted a rupee of 284 for selling and 281 for buying.
At the end of trading on Tuesday, the currency closed at 284.25 for selling and 281.25 for buying, according to data provided by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP).
In the inter-bank market, the rupee settled at 283.01 against the greenback.
The profit coincides with improvement in Pakistan’s external account, which showed a $9 million surplus in November 2023.
