Syed Haider Taqi, a veteran journalist and the head of Daily Jang’s editorial page, passed away in Karachi on Sunday following a protracted illness. He will be buried in the city today, according to a Monday story in The News.
He was raised in an aristocratic, intellectual household; his father, Syed Muhammad Taqi, was a philosopher and a former Daily Jang editor.
His uncles were poet Jaun Elia and well-known columnist and poet Raees Amrohvi.
Funeral prayers for the deceased, who was known for his wit and humor, will take place at Defence Phase IV Imambargah Yasrab at 1:30 p.m.
He will be laid to rest in Karachi’s Defence Phase VIII cemetery.
Three children, a son and two daughters, and his widow survive the deceased.
