With regard to the economic dealings between Pakistan and Iran in the wake of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi’s formal visit to Pakistan, the US State Department issued a warning on Tuesday over the “possible risk of sanctions.”
A State Department official stated in a statement, “We advise anyone considering business deals with Iran to be aware of the potential risk of sanctions,” without mentioning Pakistan.
Speaking about Islamabad’s commercial and trade relations with Washington, the spokesman stated that the US is Pakistan’s top export destination and one of its major investors.
For the previous 20 years, we have also been one of Pakistan’s top investors. We both benefit from Pakistan’s economic development, and we look forward to extending our collaboration,” they continued, highlighting the importance of business ties.
