The Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) found that 81% of players are worried about the physical toll that the schedule would have, and 76% are worried about having to travel in hazardous conditions in between games.
Former England captain Root stated, “It is evident the schedule needs to change for a host of reasons to see long-lasting benefits for English cricket.”
“It’s imperative to have enough room to rest, train, and get better during the season, and it’s non-negotiable to create minimum standards to safeguard travel windows and player welfare.”
During pre-season meetings with all 18 first-class counties, the PCA collected player data.
