Switzerland prevailed over a competition characterized by last-minute changes, backstage mishaps, and host jeers to win this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
When Eden Golan of Israel performed her song Hurricane in the Malmo Arena in Sweden, she was met with applause, cheers, jeers, and jeers.
The 20-year-old received 323 points from the audience, including 12 points from the UK public vote, and placed in fifth place despite only obtaining 52 points from the judges.
Ms. Golan told News she had disregarded all of the commotion surrounding her performance and was “over the moon” with the outcome.
