The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday declared that either the “state institutions might have leaked confidential data or their system was hacked” in response to a social media campaign slandering prominent judges.
Judge Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, along with Justice Kayani, formed an IHC bigger bench that started contempt of court proceedings on social media smear campaigns against Justice Babar Sattar.
After Justice Sattar and Justice Kayani wrote to IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, requesting contempt proceedings against those involved in leaking personal information and launching a harmful campaign on social media, the high court constituted two distinct benches on the matter on May 8.
Speaking to the state attorney, Justice Kayani said that a contempt of court action would be filed in this particular instance. He continued by saying that a few hashtags and X (previously Twitter) accounts that were utilized to run a smear drive and upload data were also involved in the case.
