Following an investigation that revealed over 100 Ohioans were registered to vote even though they were not citizens of the United States, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose issued an order on Tuesday to remove “non-citizens” from the state’s voter lists.
After examining data from the state’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the Public Integrity Division of Ohio conducted an inquiry and discovered that 137 individuals were included on voter registers despite having twice verified their non-U.S. citizenship. According to Ohio law, a person cannot be removed from the voter rolls until they have verified twice that they are not a citizen, amended their voter registration, or cast a ballot in the meantime.
“The Secretary of State will send at least two written notices to these individuals.”
