According to the Criminal Justice Workers Union, “prisoners working in the staff canteen” at HMP Swaleside in Kent allegedly administered the drug to workers.
The NHS website warns that Spice, a synthetic cannabis, can cause dizziness, breathing difficulties, chest pain, convulsions, and paranoia.
According to union representative Andy Hamlin, 25 staff members were “poisoned” at the men’s high-security penitentiary.
Mr Hamlin stated that an emergency incident unit was established “within the establishment” after nine ambulances arrived.
He stated five persons were sent to the hospital last week, while the South East Coast Ambulance Service said just three required hospital care.
