Following negotiations with the administration, the Pakistan Peoples Party decided to attend the National Assembly’s budget session after a brief boycott.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, however, did not attend the meeting and instead left the Parliament House.
In an earlier interview with reporters at Parliament House on Wednesday, PPP leader Shazia Mari stated, “The PPP has decided to boycott the budget meeting.”
She went on to say that the budget was unrelated to the president and prime minister’s meeting on Tuesday. She went on to say that the two coalition partners had chosen not to have consultations over the PSDP.
“We will also listen to the speech of the finance minister in the National Assembly session,” she said. However, PPP leader Khurshid Shah asserted that his party was not contacted when creating the budget. “It was agreed that the four provinces’ PSDPs would be decided together. But when it came to the distribution of funds, the provinces were not consulted,” he said to the press at Parliament House.
