The first budget presented by the coalition government since the recent elections was made by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. He thanked the coalition leadership and emphasized that the nation has made remarkable strides in spite of severe economic difficulties.
“We’ve made great progress on the economic front,” the minister said in the National Assembly during his budget speech. “Today, nature has given Pakistan the opportunity to follow the path of economic development, and we cannot afford to waste this opportunity.”
He admitted that there had been serious economic challenges not too long ago, with the rupee losing forty percent of its value in a year and inflation driving many people into poverty. But he stressed that the nation is currently moving forward economically because of the IMF Standby Arrangement.
The minister highlighted investor interest by saying, “Investors are searching for opportunities across a range of industries. The nation has emerged from its crisis thanks to the accomplishments of the last year. We must succeed in achieving economic self-sufficiency. Pakistan’s growth will soon stabilize again.”
