After the plane crashed on a housing estate in Anglesey, an air ambulance took the 50-year-old pilot to a medical facility.
According to the Air Accidents Investigations Branch (AAIB), it was the pilot’s fourth flight in the Aerosport Scamp, which had just undergone a significant restoration.
Despite wearing a helmet for protection, he fractured his wrist and sustained a few other minor injuries, including a minor head injury.
In the earlier occurrence this year, no additional injuries were reported.
On Saturday, February 10, the aircraft was “destroyed” after it crashed into the rear garden of a home on the Cae Bach Aur Estate in Bodffordd, close to Llangefni.
At 1:44 p.m., North Wales Police and Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
The noise that was heard at the time was described as “like an engine misfiring and cutting out” by Steve Davies, who lives next door to the residence.
The investigation into the tragedy discovered that soon after the aircraft took off from Anglesey’s RAF Mona, there was a partial power outage.
The aircraft momentarily regained full power before stalling and the engine cutting out; the reason for the power outage remained unknown.
