Dr. Qibla Ayaz, a former chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, was named an ad hoc member of the Supreme Court’s Shariat Appellate Bench on Friday.
According to the official notification, his appointment was made in accordance with paragraph (3)(b) of Article 203F of the Pakistani Constitution.
For a duration of three years, Dr. Qibla will be on the bench. Participating in the Shariat Appellate Bench sessions will be part of his job description. The bench is essential in interpreting Islamic rules within the confines of Pakistan’s legal system.
A “wealth of experience and scholarly insight to the bench, further enhancing the court’s capability to adjudicate on matters pertaining to Islamic jurisprudence” is anticipated from his nomination.
