Johansson stated, “We’re all waiting and supporting the passing of legislation to protect everybody’s individual rights,” during the premiere of her new movie Fly Me To The Moon.
Johansson claimed in May that OpenAI had “shocked” and “angered” her after using her voice to reproduce something for a new ChatGPT system without getting her permission.
The actress posted the word “her” on X, alluding to a movie in which she plays an AI that a human falls in love with, and attacked the company’s CEO, Sam Altman, for implying she was the voice known as “news.”
According to a statement from Johansson, the 39-year-old Oscar nominee, she declined Mr. Altman’s offer to voice the current ChatGPT 4.0 system in September for personal reasons.
With a statement that read, “We have received inquiries regarding the process we used to choose the voices, particularly news,” OpenAI stopped using the ChatGPT voice.
Mr. Altman stated at a UN AI conference a little more than a week later, “It’s not her voice. It isn’t meant to be. I apologize for any confusion. You obviously believe it is.”
Starring with Johansson in Fly Me To The Moon, actor Channing Tatum expressed concern about the effect artificial intelligence will have on people’s lives.
