KARACHI: Following the most recent round of negotiations with law enforcement, the hours-long sit-in at Karachi’s National Highway to protest the death of a lady who was allegedly shot by police in Steel Town last week was called off on Sunday.
Locals in the area and the victim’s family organized a sit-in at the National Highway, the scene of a woman’s shooting death that authorities described as “collateral damage” during an alleged confrontation with criminals. The event caused significant traffic disruption on a major route that links the nation’s capital with other major cities for nearly a full day.
On July 4, there was a reported gunfight between police and armed suspects on Gulshan-e-Hadeed Link Road in Steel Town, which resulted in the death of a lady.
