The infant suffered multiple bug bites but otherwise seemed to be in fair shape on Tuesday, according to Louisiana sheriff Gary “Stitch” Guillory. The infant was thought to have perished after going missing on Saturday.
It happens after the baby’s brother, who is four years old, was discovered dead on Monday in a lake behind a motorway service area close to the Texas state line.
The youngster was last seen on July 6th with his mother, Aaliyah Jack, 25, of Lake Charles, and the 1-year-old, according to police looking into his death.
More than 350 miles from the location of the children’s discovery, in Meridian, Mississippi, she was taken into custody on Monday night.
Before the truck driver dialed 911 after the four-year-old’s body was discovered, police were getting ready to search the lake for the infant out of concern for the worse.
“This one-year-old is our miracle baby because he is still alive,” Mr. Guillory said, beaming, during a press briefing.
He claimed that the toddler had been outside for two days during the state’s sporadic, intense downpour and strong winds.
On Monday morning, Hurricane Beryl made landfall in east Texas as well. The hurricane caused widespread power outages and seven fatalities in the southern regions of the United regions.
“This kid spent two days out in the weather on the side of the highway,” said Mr. Guillory. “I’m very glad the truck driver saw him.
