Extra Sessions and Districts The major appeals against the sentences imposed on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the iddat nikah case were heard by Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka.
The hearing was postponed until Saturday morning since the court was unable to make a conclusion even after lengthy arguments today.
Judge Majoka made a comment during the proceedings stating that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi adhere to Hanafi jurisprudence, which states that the right of recourse ceases once the issuance of a triple divorce decree. He stressed that ideas of jurisprudence cannot be contested in court.
The legal representative for Khawar Maneka contended that the rulings cited by the PTI founder’s attorneys throughout the trial had distinct bases and were therefore irrelevant to the present matter. Salman Safdar, a PTI attorney, made a ruling on 100 days of iddat before the court, pointing out that every criminal case has unique facts and circumstances.
Maneka’s attorney stated that the court had received a complaint stating that a civil action rather than a criminal one was being pursued, and that neither suspect has yet to file an appeal in support of the civil case.
He brought up former US President Bill Clinton, suggesting that Khawar Maneka, Imran Khan’s client, may be open to accepting his apology if Imran Khan made amends to the country.
