ISLAMABAD According to The News on Wednesday, the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPP) made a surprising move by distancing themselves from the faction within the party led by Bilawal Bhutto that had rejected the Centre’s decision to outlaw the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The PPP leaders who are against the federal government’s action, according to PPPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, are just voicing their own thoughts; the party’s position, he said, will be announced following appropriate deliberations.
The government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared that the former ruling party will be banned due to its purported involvement in anti-state activities, such as the May 9 events, and its attempts to undermine Pakistan’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
