A significant decision to restrict unlawful mobile SIM cards has been made by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
It has declared that from August 16, SIMs that were issued on canceled identity cards will be disabled. By October 15, the SIMs that are currently active on the identity cards of those who have passed away will also be blocked.
According to the PTA, after consumers receive new identity cards from NADRA, they will be able to use biometric verification to restore their SIMs.
Additionally, it was determined to restrict mobile SIM cards that were provided with identity cards that had expired in 2017. The deadline for customers to renew their identity cards is September 2.
The PTA plans to launch an awareness campaign in addition to sending notifications to the SIMs it wants to disable.
