With the deployment of heavy weaponry, the Pakistani Frontier Corps (FC) and the Afghan forces have ceased their firefight at the Torkham border. Two FC members were hurt in the Afghan forces’ gunfire.
The Afghan forces were building a road and a checkpoint close to the Torkham border the day before, according to FC sources, despite FC authorities’ orders forbidding them from working on projects in the disputed territories.
According to security sources, the conflict started over the road work and escalated into an exchange of gunfire when the Afghan soldiers refused to back down.
According to the security sources, there has been no longer any firefight between the FC and the Afghan forces.
