With an emphasis on crimes against women, a recent report from India’s Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has provided insight into criminal proceedings against elected officials.
As per the study, there are 151 public figures who are facing significant charges associated with offenses against women. Sixteen of them are charged with sexual assault and rape.
The majority of the BJP, the ruling party in India, is represented by the greatest number of people in these circumstances. According to the study, 54 BJP lawmakers and state assembly members are currently involved in instances involving crimes against women.
Several BJP ministers, including Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, are accused of several crimes, according to the ADR report. There are allegedly 42 cases against Kumar, more than 30 of them are connected to crimes.
