At a news conference held at the district police headquarters, District Police Officer Dr. Ghias Gul disclosed that the three primary suspects—Mohammad Safdar, his son Mohammad Azam, and his cousin Raheem Khan—went into hiding following last Thursday’s attack on the school van. Police used both human and computer intelligence to apprehend them.
He said that the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) sections 302, 324, 109, 148, and 149, as well as section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), were used by the police to book the suspects.
In response to a query, he stated that efforts were being made to apprehend the three suspects who are still at large: Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Tariq, and Nasir Mehmood.
He stated that the van driver, Muhammad Afzal, had ruled out any involvement with terrorism in a statement he had recorded with the police.
