KARACHI: A Bengal tigress who lived at the Karachi Zoo passed away last week, which is a very tragic occurrence for animal lovers in the port city, Geo News learned on Saturday.
The zoo authorities confirmed that the tigress “died a week ago” and stated that the animal had died following a protracted illness.
Officials from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) provided information on the situation, stating that the huge cat was 30 years old and died from natural causes. They also mentioned that the average lifespan of Bengal Tigers is eighteen to twenty years.
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) reports that Royal Bengal Tigers, or Panthera tigris tigris, are native to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Bhutan, and that their average lifespan in the wild is between 14 and 16 years.
