As part of an intensifying crackdown on the party following a protest in the Sangjani neighborhood of the capital, Islamabad Police on Monday detained senior officials of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including the party’s Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
While returning from a meeting of the National Assembly, Sher Afzal Marwat was arrested, while Shoaib Shaheen was taken into custody at home.
The coordinated effort resulted in the arrest of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan outside the parliament.
Furthermore, Marwat’s personal protection officer was arrested for reportedly resisting the police during the arrest.
