Under the Kite Flying Ordinance of 2001, the government approved the imposition of a fine ranging from Rs 500,000 to Rs 700,000, a three to five year prison sentence for [possession of] illegal arms, and penalties for producing and selling kites. A handout on Wednesday states that flying a kite is against the Kite Flying Ordinance, which imposes fines of between Rs. 2 million and Rs. 5 million in addition to two to five years in jail.
