ISLAMABAD/QUETTA: On Thursday, a woman was found guilty of blasphemy under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) and given the death penalty.
The woman was found guilty by Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka in accordance with Sections 11 of the Peca and 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The prisoner was also fined Rs100,000 by the court in addition to receiving the death punishment.
The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing filed a complaint against her, and Shiraz Ahmed, a private individual, was the source of the case.
The FIR states that in September 2020, the Christian woman was accused of posting blasphemous content against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on social media. On July 29, 2021, the FIA opened an investigation into her.
