At approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, emergency personnel were notified of an incident on the A76 close to its intersection with the B713, which runs between Catrine and Auchinleck.
The six-year-old girl who was riding in the white Volkswagen Passat was declared deceased at the scene, according to Police Scotland.
After being transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, the 32-year-old driver of the vehicle passed away shortly after.
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic incident at this extremely difficult time,” stated Inspector Kenny Malaney.
“We are reaching out to anyone who may have been in the vicinity or who witnessed the collision as we conduct extensive investigations to determine what transpired.”
