Critics claim that the enormous volume of possible new legislation is more proof of the Golden State leadership’s preference for micromanaging the government.

Longtime Capitol lobbyist Chris Micheli pointed out that state legislators in California introduced nearly 4,400 proposals for the 2023–2024 session, surpassing the 4,100 proposed in the 2020–2021 term, despite the state continuing to be the most regulated in the nation.

Lance Christensen, a public policy specialist from California, issued a warning, stating that many of the laws introduced are merely “vanity projects” for lawmakers.

nd with the governor signing the majority, the state’s legislation is becoming more complicated and confusing, creating enormous obstacles for individuals and small enterprises and increasing the cost of compliance.
Who is capable of reading millions of pages of state legislation, not to mention millions of pages of regulations? and the response is none “Christensen stated to News . “Never mind, none of this stuff gets read. Because so few people truly get how complicated it is, the majority of individuals breach the law on a daily basis without realizing it.

“How are you going to handle that procedure without having someone else read it for you? Thus, that raises the price of compliance as well as the cost of knowledge.”
