ISLAMABAD: Justice Munib Akhtar’s refusal to join the five-member bench prompted the Supreme Court to postpone the hearing on a review petition contesting its ruling on the defection provision under Article 63-A of the Constitution.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa presided over the initial five-member bench, which included Justices Aminuddin, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Mazhar Alam, and Munib.
The CJP postponed the hearing till tomorrow (Tuesday), stating that the judge would be asked to return to the bench. Unfortunately, when the hearing started today, Justice Munib was not accessible from the bench.
“We will try to bring Justice Munib Akhtar back to the bench, otherwise, the bench will be reconstituted,” stated the chief justice.
