Following their statement expressing their “appalled and disappointed” feelings about certain fans feeling “uncomfortable and disrespected” at The Engine Shed in Lincoln, the Brit-winning and Mercury-nominated band made this announcement.
Online audience members claimed that male fans were subjected to discrimination; as a result, the venue opened an investigation of the security protocol at the performance. Several male fans reported they were tested on their knowledge of the band before they were permitted access.
The band abruptly canceled the gig in Lincoln, citing a “sudden illness”. They have now canceled their remaining headline performances in Southampton, Bristol, Birmingham, Nottingham, and Bristol “due to medical advice.”
The band posted a message on social media stating, “We have to prioritize our health at this time,” adding that they made the choice “with heavy hearts.”
On Sunday, they also called off a gig in Cardiff.
With lead singer Abigail Morris, guitarist Emily Roberts, rhythm guitarist Lizzie Mayland, bassist Georgia Davies, and keyboardist Aurora Nishevci, The Last Dinner Party is an all-female indie band.
