With worrying air quality statistics still making Punjab one of the worst-affected regions, the interim provincial government has announced plans to introduce 26,000 electric vehicles into urban traffic.
According to acting Punjab Minister for Transportation Ibrahim Hasan Murad, the government’s “Green Wheels Programme” will supply the electric cars, enabling women, students, low-income residents, and individuals with impairments to take advantage of the program.
The minister disclosed to a private news outlet that university students will receive up to 10,000 electric motorcycles exclusively.
Additionally, the initiative offers interest-free three-wheelers for the disabled, interest-free E-bikes for women, and interest-free E-rickshaws for worthy individuals.
