The Supreme Court withdrew its previous ruling on the constitutional article and unanimously approved the review petition challenging the court’s interpretation of Article 63A.
The court declared, “The 2022 majority judgment regarding Article 63A is set aside.”
In his opening remarks before the Supreme Court, Ali Zafar, the attorney for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, stated that the government is putting forth changes to the Constitution and that it is feared the court will permit horse-trading.
The matter of Article 63A interpretation review is being heard by a five-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which is presided over by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. Justices Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Mazhar Alam Miankhel are also on the bench.
