According to information obtained by News, Ms. Reeves will meet with the CEOs of Santander UK, HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group, and NatWest Group on Wednesday.
This will be the most recent of several conversations she has had with the industry since being appointed chancellor following Labour’s election triumph in July.
The gathering, which takes place a fortnight before Ms. Reeves’s first budget and five days before the International Investment Summit, will allow bank executives to argue for more economic investment and to oppose any policies they feel will jeopardize.
Insiders in the government stated that they now expected the appointment of an investment minister before Monday’s summit in London, which is expected to be attended by well-known international bankers such as Bruce Flatt, CEO of Brookfield, and Larry Fink, the head of BlackRock.
Barclays, HSBC, and Lloyds, three of the banks present at the chancellor’s meeting, have also committed to donate £175,000 to support the summit.
